Xiaomi today announced a 70 inch variant of their Mi TV in China. For those unaware the high-flying Chinese brand had recently launched a 60 inch variant of the Mi TV 3 a month back alongside the Ninebot Mini.

The new 70 inch variant of the Mi TV 3 comes with a 4K (3840x2160p) display from Sharp and boasts a 12.9 mm thin aluminium alloy frame. It however measures at 38.6mm at its thickest part. This is fairly thick as compared to the 60 inch variant which was just 11.6mm. Considering the increase in the real estate the thicker frame of this new Mi TV 3 is nothing to be surprised about.

Coming to the specifications the 4K display sourced from Sharp comes with 178° viewing angle, 120Hz Refresh Rate and 6ms dynamic response time. The panel also boast of a 4000:1 contrast ratio and an 85% NTSC colour gamut. 214814uy044p0vp0ypnvef.jpg.thumb

The Mi TV 3 70 inch variant supports a number of video playback formats including H.265 4K (30/60 fps), H.265 Full HD (60 fps), H.263 Full HD (30fps), MPEG 1/2/4 Full HD (30 fps), VP8 Full HD (30fps), REAL7/8/9 Full HD (30 fps) and MJPEG Full HD (30fps).

Device is expected to retail for 9,999 Yuan ($1540) in China. Like other Mi TVs, this one too doesn’t seem to be destined for any market other than China.
